Junius "Smitty" Smith

Smitty has been on The First 72+ team since August 2019. He was introduced to the organization through the help of church Next Generation Of Original Morning Star, where he serves as one of the associate ministers under the leadership of First 72+ Co-Founder and Co-Director, Pastor Tyrone Smith. He was also was raised in the same neighborhood as Co-Founders Ben and Tyrone Smith. Before working with The First 72+ as a staff member, he was attracted to the reentry work that was being done so he volunteered his services to see how he could help the men that were coming home from incarceration and making the transition back into society. Before long he was offered an opportunity to join the team as a Peer Mentor Life Coach, which he graciously accepted. He is now operating in the capacity of an Intake Specialist, where he is the first line of defense in Impacting the fight against mass incarceration.
